Mathematics

Numeracy is a focus learning area at John Butler College, and is lucky enough to have a numeracy specialist to assist in all areas of mathematical learning.

The College is committed to achieving the best possible mathematics outcomes for all pupils whereby students aspire to reach the highest levels of Numeracy understanding while being actively engaged in hands on learning experiences. We spend 25% of our college day focusing on the instruction and learning of numeracy.

An inclusive, engaging and inspiring place of learning, where every student is supported to achieve their personal best every day.

Mathematics

Mathematics provides our students with the essential skills and knowledge in Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students will develop the numeracy skills that they require as they progress through life. We implement programs that have been approved through research and support the ever changing world we live in. At our College.

We aim to ensure that all students:

  • are able to investigate, represent and interpret situations in their personal and work lives and as active citizens
  • develop an increasingly sophisticated understanding of mathematical concepts and fluency with processes, and are able to pose and solve problems and reason in Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability
  • recognise connections between the areas of mathematics and other disciplines and appreciate mathematics as an accessible and enjoyable discipline to study.
  • will see the introduction of a Specialist Physical Education teaching and learning program.
